When these materials are disturbed or crushed in any manner to where it becomes a dust everyone in the home or building are at high risk of being exposed to silica dust that’s produced. Although this has been an ongoing issue in the construction industry it is only recently that OSHA and other governing bodies have set forth to inform and regulate overall exposure and creation of silica dust. Many different controls are put in place to eliminate exposure such as use of personal protective equipment, containing the areas that removal is occurring, using hepa filtered air scrubbers to clean the air, and using wet methods to reduce or eliminate the creation of silica dust.
